Natural England came into being on 1 October. This new organisation will bring together English Nature and the recreation elements of the Countryside Agency (CA) and the environmental land management functions of the Rural Development Service (RDS).

being on 1 October. This new organisation will bring together English Nature
and the recreation elements of the Countryside Agency (CA) and the environmental
land management functions of the Rural Development Service (RDS).
Natural England will work for people, places and nature, to enhance biodiversity, landscapes and wildlife in rural, urban, coastal and the marine areas; promoting access, recreation and public wellbeing, and contributing to the way natural resources are managed so that they can be enjoyed by future generations.
We believe that the promotion
of access and recreation will figure highly on their agenda. The responsibility
for Natural England comes under the government ministry DEFRA. (Department for
Environment Food and Rural Affairs).
